In short: Faktivo is a local-first app. Your business data is stored encrypted on your own device, and we (the developer) never receive or store it on our own servers.

The App is designed so that your data stays on your device:
If you store information about your own customers (names, emails, tax IDs, etc.), then YOU are the "data controller" of that information under laws such as the GDPR, and you are responsible for having a lawful basis to hold it and for complying with applicable invoicing, tax, and data-protection laws. Faktivo is only a tool you use on your own device.
If you choose to enable it, the App can back up your data to YOUR OWN Google Drive account, in a hidden, app-specific folder (the Drive "appDataFolder"). This is off by default and requires you to sign in with Google. The backup is a copy of your data in JSON format; it is transmitted over HTTPS and stored under your own Google account — not on any server we control — and it excludes any secret API keys you may have entered. Importantly, this backup file is not separately encrypted by Faktivo: it is protected by your Google account security and Google's own safeguards, rather than by the App's on-device encryption. Your use of Google Drive is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can disable backups and delete them at any time.
The App offers optional integrations that are OFF until you enable them, and each requires you to supply your own credentials. When used, data is sent directly from your device to that provider — not through us — and each provider's own privacy policy applies:

Camera/Photos (to capture or attach receipts), Biometrics (optional app lock, handled by your OS), Internet/Network state (only for the optional online features above), and Notifications (local reminders generated on your device).
Because data lives on your device, you control retention — it remains until you delete it, delete the App, or reset your device. Data you send to a third party is retained under that party's own policy.
We protect on-device data with AES-256 encryption at rest and an optional biometric/PIN lock, and all third-party communication uses HTTPS/TLS. However, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. You are responsible for securing your own device and third-party accounts. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Faktivo is a business tool intended for users aged 18 or over (or the age of majority where you live). It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR in the EU/UK, or CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict processing of personal data. Because your data is on your own device, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the App by viewing, editing, exporting, or deleting your data. For data sent to a third party, contact that provider. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. Faktivo is an invoicing and bookkeeping aid, not a substitute for professional accounting, tax, or legal advice. We do not warrant that invoices, tax calculations, VAT/GST rates, exchange rates, or compliance features are accurate, complete, or suitable for your situation. You are responsible for verifying all figures and for your own regulatory and tax compliance.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we (and our owners, employees, and suppliers) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business, arising from your use of or inability to use the App. Our total aggregate liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD 50. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
You alone are responsible for the content of your invoices and records and for how you collect and use information about your own customers, including obtaining any required consent and notices. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the App or your breach of applicable laws.
When you use an optional feature that sends data to a third party, that data may be processed in other countries under that provider's safeguards. We may update this policy from time to time; the version date above will change and we will prompt you to accept material changes. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
This policy is governed by the laws of Pakistan, except where
